Phil,

Where do you get 93 at in Texas? I can't remember if we have Union 76's or not...

Has your bike had the SB903 installed by you or from factory if later release? This may help. Some of these bikes just dont respond like others, the quality of gas lately doesnt help and you can forget about HD doing anything.Pinging isnt any good for your bike and if SERT,PC111 or the wideband units cant cure it-you have issues.Could very well be a bad sensor.Dealer should at least check the vitals are wronging correctly. Some of these bikes have the clatter problem that sounds very much like detonation, try the heaviest fluid you can in the trans-140ish-Dump the syn3 and use it in your lawnmower.Good luck, but you need to narrow things down alittle more.HD will fight you on the lemon law.

I purchased some Octane booster and I am giving it a try. I can only find 91 Octane around So. Cal. Going to go back and talk to the dealer on thrusday after I get off from work and see what they will try if I can not get it taken care of (which I know what HD will say) I think I am going to start the Lemon Law process. But I really hate to get rid of the bike and really hate to take off all the chrome I have added then I just might look for a 05 or 06 used one.
Let me know what they say. I've only had pinging twice that i know of. both times up an incline (or really accelarating) when it was getting hot (about mid 80's) and once was when it was bone stock.

Both times it happened was 2up. In fifth coming over the grade from Camarillo to Thousand Oaks, shifting into fourth seemed to help. The other time was in 6th trying to accelerate from 75 to about 90 to get around a car. both times its caught me by surprise.

I'm not particularly worried about it, but just interested to see what solution they find. since i can't find 93 octane here around the San Gabriel Valley (or CA to be honest with you)

Yes, I had the 903 done by the HD dealer that sure did help the torque curve made it better. It is very odd because leaving Laughlin on Sunday i was pulling the grade out of town to the 95 and if I went into 4th the RPM would get up around 3000 ormore and it would ping if I went up in 5th the RPM was around 2400 or 26 and I had no pinging and plenty of power it only seemed to ping around 2800 and above. No, it is not the clatter I never hear any. The dyno guy and the HD tech agreed it was detonation the suggestion was to change the cams and use a narrower head gasket but if I do that then i have no warranty. ??????????

I put a AC and change my slip-ons to Samson put a pc3 and had it dyno tune It ran great except for the pinging when I roll the throttle. I then look at the spark plug under a microscope and saw black specks and blobs of alumman on the plug. I took out the pc3 and got a Harley stage one down load no more pinging and bike runs ok. I want more control over my bike’s fuel mixture so I bought a new pc3 put it in and had it dyno for a 2nd time like before it ran great mpg was about 40 but the pinging came back I email dynojet they said to retard my timing this did not help I also try amoil octane bust to get rid of the pinging this did not help so for the sake of my piston I remove the pc3 if it is not to late. I thought about using a cooler plugbut I do not know if this will help
