I have a buddy and his 05 radio just died. Has anybody put an 07 in an 05 bike? It seems like I have seen on here it is plug and play but want to hear from somebody who has done it. Looking for what you lose if it can be done.

It's plug and play as long as it's not going on to an Ultra. The HK accessories connector is a 35 pin configuration, the 05 is a 23 pin. You would either have to re-pin to a 35 slot connector or change the overlay harness.
The non-ultra configuration is identical, and would be a plug and play On the 05 (and the 04) the AVC is programmable by the customer. 03 and older, the radio would need to be reflashed to change the AVC to an analog signal
OK I did the search on PINGMAN thanks for that but he did an 04 that may have been early 04 with the AVC wire and he has 9000+ posts.
I think I understand. I buy a 35 pin connector and put it on the bike using the existing 23 wires. That doesn't sound too bad.
My diagram shows this:
pins 8, 19, and 31 N/C
pins 7, 18, and 30 XM radio (not needed here)
Pins 4, and 27 HFM (not needed here)
Pins 13, and 14 CAN (??? looks like GPS and not needed here)
Pins 15, 17, and 22 Side car (not needed here)
The above reduces from 35 pins but not sure as it is 13 pins. This would make a 23 pin a 36 pin. are there N/C pins on the 23? (Sorry I don't have the 05 diagram in front of me)
Are both connectors made by the same manufacturer (AMP)or do the pins have to be changed too? Is this something that can be purchased from Iron Cross? Do you offer a complete kit to do this including the radio or do I have to wait for one to come up for sale on the Forum and buy the connector from somewhere else? Do you purchase 05 cores?
I apreciate the help here and I am sure my buddy will too.
