I need some help and advice from the fellow members on here regarding my 06 FLHXI, SERT, SE Air Cleaner and V&H Big Shot dualsthat I had Dyno'd last week.
I did some research and Chesters HD in Mesa, AZ seemed to have some good reviews from local people and one other guy on herethat had hisSG dyno'd there so I decided to go this direction. This dealer originallyinstalled the SERT (after heat issues with the stage 1 burn) and shortly after I installed the V&H duals, bike still ran really goodNO heat issues (in warmweather). I basically wanted it dyno'd to balance the cylinders as you could hear therighttail pipe running and the rear cyl (left)just kinda popping (lean Iassume)at idle. I got the bike back on Saturday after the dyno timeand it seemed to run OK for a while, riding 1 up home and picked up the wife and then rode 2 up for a short 25 mile ride 1 way at about 45 mph max. We stopped for alate lunch and after that the bike acted like it lost the custom map and went back to the original stage 1 download? The bike started idling more on the right again, cutting out and coughing when I took off from the stop sign, and then eventually going into 1st stage of heat management mode after being in traffic for about 10 minutes on a 65 deg day? Then we rode about 20 miles back home going mostly 45mph stopping at a few traffic lights and the bike ran so hot on the rear cylinder it was burning both mine and my wifes butts, all at a whopping 65 degree day (high of 65 prob cooler at this time). Then by the time I got home I had used up 3/4 of a tank of gas after only going 74 miles? I took the bike back to the dealer Sunday afternoon and at 40 mph could hear the right pipe rpm and the left pipe just kinda popping, I was FURIOUS about the performance of thebike. The service guyeven started the bike and listened to it, ran the idle up to 2000rpm and heard it poppingout of the left pipe.I called themtoday (Tuesday) to find out what was going on because I havent heard from them yet and they tell me the bike is done, WE TEST RODE IT AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG????
SORRY So long winded, this is my first bike and I am just fed up with the whole HARLEY heat issue anddyno tune thing with this bike! I told the dealer either fix it or put the canned map back in because I WILL NOT accept this bike as it is! Also, the performance of the bike after dyno was no better, none at all!
SO here is my question, can I have them show me some sort of dyno readout from each cylinder? What can I do to further prove to them that either something is wrong with the bike or with their dyno tune on this bike?
Also, this is what they gave me for the dyno results can someone please give me some added advice on what the SERT and dyno can tell me!!
Just got another call back from the dealer, they are going to test ride the bike longertomorrow to see if they can find a problem?? I asked why test ride it put it on the dyno and stick probes all over it you can see what is going on a lot better then riding it!!
I have only been riding a bike for about 8 months and I can tell there is something wrong and hear it when it is at idle? [:@]
I'm not sure what the problem is, but from looking at your tune and air/fuel (from what little I know) I think thethe tune looks pretty good. The air/fuel is sitting pretty at around 13.8, which is what I think this bikes a/f should be tuned at. I kind of expected the torque to hit way earlier than the hp, but I really haven't seen many 88" dyno sheets.
I know how frustrated you must be... you burned 3/4 of a tank in 74 miles... I would think that right there would tell them something.
Hopefully one of the more experienced members will pipe in here and offer his/her suggestions for what they think is happening with your bike.
look at the injectors from the horn side...does the part # end like -06A or 06...if the 06 aint got an A have them put the 25deg injectors in....then, get em to refund you on the SERT and dyno time....buy the ThunderMax with AutoTune...have an independant shop install it....bet it fixes your bike...dont give up....some of the 06's had some probs due to the EPA tune the moco had to put in
Go up the block to Country Club and University. On the N/W corner is Desert Custom Cycles. Walk in and ask for Bill or John. Tell them Matt the cop sent you and told you they could fix your bike. They WILL get your scoot straightened out. The best I can tell you is to stay away from Harley and their "map". DCC did my power commander with a custom map on the dyno to my specific set up and it runs as well as it can. They did my buddy's 07 Street Glide also. My bike is there now getting a new map for some duals and a big sucker I installed. Also getting a blacked out front end, new rear tire and my 10k service. These are great guys and will take care of you! Won't save you any of the $$ you spent at the stealer but you'll be happy with your hog.
Hope it works out for you bud.
Your graphs mean absolutely nothing as far as idle and cruising go, they show wide open throttle tuning only, the easy part of tuning. Obviously you have driveability issues of which many tuners don't have the proper equipment, like an eddy current load simulation dyno, or possibly knowledge and experiance for such tuning, the hard part of tuning. Like, what is your A/F ratio at part throttle, simulated,70 MPH crusing? It will do them no good to put it back on the dyno if they don't know part throttle tuning. May have to find a differnt tune shop.
Guys thanks for the info and help I knew I would get some good info on here!! I just dont get why this is so difficult, its like this bike has the devil in it!!
I was at DCC and the owner just had an attitude that I didnt care for, actually he drove me away from there because that was were I was originally going to go!!
I know the bike has the 25 injectors in it, we checked that before I put the SERT on!! I told the dealer today that I would prefer they put the canned map back in and give me my money back and I would be happier!! I told them I lost all faith in their techs and I dont think they are going to gain my trust back!
ALSO while I had it in for the dyno both my fairing brackets were broke and they replaced them. WHen I picked the bike up on Saturday the throttle had a 1/4 turn of slop in it so I had to turn around and have them fix that before I left. Then on the way home the right side turn signal was ready to fall off they never tightened the bolts so I fixed that when I got home. Then when I got home I noticed they didnt have the fairing seated all the way on the gasket, had to fix that. AND when I rode home that night one of the lights on the dash was out! THEY TOTALLY F'd up my scoot and I am p*ssed. So while I had to bring it back for the crappy dyno job they also had to fix the dash light, well at least I hope they did I dont have it back yet!!
I've had two bikes dyno'd out at Superstition HD in AJ and they both had absolutley no problem. Tell them what happened and ask them to have Jim (the service manger) talk with you about it and do the tune. I know, another stealership, but man, they have done a good job for me and I trust them...
