I’ve very gently laid my ’03 Ultra down in a parking lot once. The engine guards and saddlebag guards protected the bike perfectly. So I will always have both on any touring bike I own.

Bike went over like a zero mph high side, threw me right into the gas pump, demolished the left side of my tank... there were all kinds of people around. You wanna talk bruised ego? Top that! heh
I can totally beat that. Laid mine down twice. First time I was at my local Stealership. Inside was the Stealership, was the local HOG guys hanging out having a meeting. So as I'm backing my scooter into a parking spot in front, my left foot slips on some loose gravel/sand. Slowly my Ultra started going over. I freaked out, grabbed clutch and a big handful of throttle. Well me Rush slips ons with my baffles made one hell of a roar. For some reason I started screaming" NO!!!!!"
Next thing I know about 15 HOGs come to my rescue, run out to help me as my bike was going over and I fought with everything I had not to let the chrome hit the ground.

As the HOGs help me get the scoot buck up right, I look up at this 6-3 275 pound biker and he asks, "Son you a HOG Member?" I answer, "I am now."

Two weeks later, I'm out for a ride with my new HOG Buddies. First group ride, must had been 30 of us riding the twisties having a great time. Got the OL on back heading out through the mountains. Been riding for about an hour and we pull up to a stop. They have me up front, because I had only been riding for three months. It was the first time the old lady was with me… I rolled over onto to my side. I forgot to put down my foot at the stop. The old lady broke her elbow and my head hit so hard it cracked my helmet…

Top that!

They say its a matter of if, not when. Thank goodness for crash bars! Glad you didn't have any major damage. It's good to have the experience of picking a bike up too.

Never thought about it, but does the tip-over (angle) sensor activate with the engine off?

Always good to know the reset procedure for your model. And the V-twin reference app for your smart phone can be pretty handy.

Thanks for the V-twin reference app suggestion. Pretty damn cool app!

You ain't alone in the drop the bike club. I have a gravel drive, while moving my Dad's brand new Heritage slipped on gravel and down she goes. Good thing he took my advice and added front and rear crashbars. I had told him if ever he dropped his bike while moving it around it would save a lot of damages. It did and afte I dropped it the lower bar was scratched so I told him I was buying him a new one and he said not to worry he had dropped it and the scratches were already there !!
