Default dropped it last night

Dropped bike for the first time last night. Fortunately it was in the garage! Didn't have the damn side stand down all the way. All good except for the big puddle of gas it leaked out. Did just top off again on way home, weird weather here in St. Louis, 65 yesterday, 32 today. So anyway, didn't come from the cap, where did the fuel come from? Overflow? Did I break something? Too dark to look at it last night.

If you're going to have a drop...self in garage is way to go. No-one sees & little damage. The gas probably came from overflow tube at tank fill opening (small hole - hose runs down side). Glad all is well!

I dropped mine in my garage for the same reason as the OP, but my wife and step daughter were there to witness. I tried my best to set it down as gently as possible. Only a small scuff mark on my engine guard and a big bruise to my ego.

Yeah no blown o rings! Just told the wife I think I got some gas on my boots when I filled it up. Don't know why it stinks in the garage honey!

Ah, welcome to the club.
Did mine in my friend's driveway with wife on back. She just stepped off but I had the clutch in and as she weht down the throttle hand twisted making a racket. Laid it down slow, same scuff you mention but it was a bitch trying to turn the damn thing off without popping the clutch -- brain was only registering, you F'ed up, you F'ed up rather than, let go of the throttle. Yep, massive bruising to my ego, still healing a year later but I have helped enough others out to know that it's by no means an exclusive club. Thing with mine was that it was such a stupid move (Wife on back, full lock tight left turn with rear wheel off the pavement and down a bit from pavement level) Sure fire guarantee to go down. Had this tiny minute of doubt, hmm, maybe I should stick to my Dyna. After 5K or so that was gone though.

Years ago i rode a rigid shovel chopper. Stopped in at a gas station and filled it up, had a smoke with the guys i was riding with and went back to get the bike started. It was kick only, and to start it i used to get up on the seat on my left knee and jump on the kicker with the right boot. So i got up on the seat, and jumped on the kicker, and the kick stand broke. Bike went over like a zero mph high side, threw me right into the gas pump, demolished the left side of my tank... there were all kinds of people around. You wanna talk bruised ego? Top that! heh

Yeah I did it while detailing it last week. Have rubber matting wall to wall in the garage. Everything was fine except for the tip of the front fender that grazed the saddlebage buckle on my wife's bike......third time ive set it down like that....guess it was bound to happen.
