Idle cable
I have a 2000 Road king with EFI. Recently, I purchased a new throttle and idle cable from magnum. When I inspected the cables I noticed that my idle cable was missing the spring. I called Magnum and asked if they sent me the wrong cable. They told me that a spring was not needed on the idle cable for that model. I have spoken with a few different bike shops that have all told me that a spring should be on the end of the cable. However, they did say maybe Magnum is right and it is not needed. So, is the spring required? What will happen if I use the cable without the spring? Attached is a picture of the cable. I appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Ted

A spring is preferred but not necessary, it just adds cable rebound ... you can remove the spring from you stock cable & put it on theirs if you have the room to do so.

weird... i have a 2000 road king to. I put apes on it, so had to change the cables. None of my cables have springs on em, not the new ones or the ones that i took off, which i assumed were stock. Springs actually on the cables you're talking about?
Yeah just on the idle cable. I bought the bike used and the cables had been replaced with after market cables. I think I am going to call Magnum again tomorrow and see if I can speak to another person.
