Can anyone answer this about CB radios. I have a 2004 EGC and would like to put in the HK unit with the CB in. Will any of the late model units work like Harley-Davidson Harman Kardon Radio Infotainment bluetooth & CB 76160-06 6-13 or should I try to find one from the same year of a Ultra? I also assume I have to get the tank mount changed as well.
Well I ride in a group with various bikes such as goldwings, HD's & cruisers and on long trips its nice to hear lane changes, upcoming exits, road hazards or restroom&gas breaks
HD changed the radios in 2006. I was told that while the newer radios will work, none of the handlebar switches will.
You'll have to look for a radio from a 2005 or older bike. HD doesn't make them anymore.
Harley has Never made radios. They contract out for the manufacture of radios.

Radio Sound made the radio for Harley from 1986 to 2005. Then Harman/Kardon began the manufacture. There has been talk of some that have made the H/K radios work on the earlier models. The easiest thing to do is to find a model with the CB already installed. But to add the CB to any '98-'05 model requires much work too. First, you can find a used Ultra Radio. (It has the CB installed inside the radio chassis) Then install the Ultra harness overlay. That will give you the connections for the handlebar controls, intercom and other Ultra equipment. The EGC didn't have any of the Ultra wiring. Then you need the Ultra Controls.
The Ultra Models made from 1989-1997 have the CB under the Tour Pak. It is almost impossible to add the Factory CB to those Non-Ultra models. I say almost because someone can add anything to any models, if they want to invest the time and money.
