I was reading a post a couple of weeks ago about what happened to the Outlaw Low Profile helmets, wellI received a letter yesterday from the DOT stating that my Outlaw Low Profile Carbon helmet was being recalled. They said that it failed at least 1 of the DOT standards. The letter said that Tegol,Inc. is offering a replacement helmet or full refund affected by the recall.

Figured that was coming....Oh'well. I knew that helmet wasn't DOT when I got it, but boy howdy do I prefer it over all my other helmets.
My buddy and I just got ours in the last couple weeks. I'll be curious to see if I get a letter from the DOT. They can keep the refund and the redesigned helmet. I bought it knowing exactly what it was and what it wasn't and will absolutely be keeping mine.
I bought two just in case this came about, love the low profile smaller size AND the DOT label is still intact so they can bite me as to those places/officers that look for such to ticket on.
Exactly how did the Department of Transportation know you bought this helmet?
Buying a helmet ain't like buying a hand gun. You and/or the seller aren't required to register the sale with any official government entity.
I'm calling bullshit!
Let's see the letter.
