Default New Bar Issue...

Just put on new bars "wildone 575 bagger bar" and Hd grip "get a grip" http://www.latus-harley-davidson.com...FetDMgodXwIAHg

and i have a gap between the controls and where the bar gets bigger...have any of you seen this? is it the grip? I know that I have read on here that heated grips do that with this bar, thats why I went without heated.....it is the same size gap on both sides....

I know the pic wont help much as I did not get close but I post it anyways...

Are you talking about where the weld is? If so that is going to be normal unless you widen the holes in the controls (clutch & brake clamps) from 1" to whatever size bar that is 1.25-1.5". Then if the grips bottom out before you get them to the controls, you trim down the bars until everything fits. Or just do what I did and live with the gap.

Ooh boy-I have 578s ready to go, and my **** retentive self will not do well with any kind of gap. I have Willie G HD oversized (diameter) grips. The dealer will be installing mine, and I'm sure will give me grief about shortening if needed, or will charge me an arm and a leg. Not good. It it so much that a person would need to actually cut the ends, or within "grinding range"?

grinding would be easier to control the amount of material being taken off...you can always take more, but you cant add it back.

measure, mark with a sharpie and grind to that mark
