07 style cam conversion for 06
I talked to my local dealer today about doing the cam,chain and oil pump conversion on my 06 to the 07 style. they started doing it as a service, using andrews cam conversions. The total package was $1396. That was new fluids, gaskets and bearings,and lifters. I saw the article in Hot Bike magazine, vol 38 no.13 11/21/06. The article said the basic parts was 681.95. Anyone done this conversion??? What I,m after is more oil pressure so my lifters dont raddle when it gets hot. I know I,m going back to dino oil next change. I found out that all the mechanics at this dealership use dino h/d 20/50. NO sin/3

I'm doing the upgrade to the roller chain cams myself using the Andrews cams. The Harley parts at 20 percent discount ran me $364 and cams are probably going to be $260. Labor can vary. If you've got a bagger, the exhaust system has to come off with takes time. I can't speak yet because I haven't cracked the case, but the actual installation looks pretty straight forward.
Besides a better oil pump you get a better performing cams and hydraulic chain tensioners. This kit is easier to swap out cams, too, because you don't have to press in bearings anymore.
