Default exhaust

Hello All,
i bought a 2006 roadking classic FLHRCI last year and want to change the exhaust and was thinking of the Rhinehart true duals. I was wondering if anyone out there has them and how you liked them. i am looking for a deeper and louder sound and not sure how they are. I have the standard pipes on them now and want a little louder sound but not overly loud. It would be nice to get a little more power also, but not sure how much to expect. I was considering the screaming eagle slip ons but don't know if they will do much other than a louder sound. I am being told by my local dealer that i need to buy a screamin eagle air filter and the down load if i make any kind of exhaust modifications. Is this true? There seems to be a lot of different brands of pipes out there and don't know if maybe one is better than others or ones i should stay away from. I kind of wantto go to a 1 into 1 header for each head because i have been told itimproves the sound and performance of the bike. If anyone can help i would appreciate it. I am new to this sight and not sure how to get around and maybe this has been asked before.

You will hear a ton of different idea's in this area. Rhineharts are an excellant pipe. I went with V&H Big Shot True Duals. They and Rhineharts are quite loud, but sound like a Harley should, MEAN!

Hang around your stealer some and check out pipes on other bikes to hear what they sound like. Performance is pretty much the same with all.

Yes, you will need to re-map or add some sort of controller.

Good luck

True duals with cost you some low end torque. From my experience, no matter which mufflers you use, they will be a little louder with the duals than the factory headers. When I had the factory headers and when I switched to the true duals, I used the Screamin Eagle II mufflers. Not too loud, but agood deep Harley sound. I don't know how they compare to the Rhineharts. The dualsdo have a different sound. Some like it better, others don't. The best adviceI could giveyou is to check around on your local bike night and listen to the different exhaust setups that everyone has. All you have to do is ask most anyone and they will crank theirs up for you so you can listen. I've never met a Harley rider that wouldn't take the time to help if you ask. I've also never met a Harley rider that wouldn't tell you anything you want to know about their bikeand probably some things you really didn'twant to know.

I forgot about the air filter question. The dealer I go to says as long as you don't change the incoming air flow, don't worry about changing your exhaust. Changing your exhaust won't change the amout of air the factory filter will allow. I don't know if that's true or not, but I have no reason to doubt him. Now if I was going to change my exhaust, I would definately go with the SE filter and get the Stage 1 download. You can really tell the difference. But that's me, you've gotto do what you want.

If you don't want too loud than rineharts might be on the loud side. You could give a set of wild pigs a try, they sound great and are around $200. V&H ovals are another good choice that are reasonably quiet. The stock head pipes will give the best torque, true duals will get rid of some heat on the right side. You will need something for fuel management, PC-3 or sert is a good choice and there is alot more options on that as well. I have rineharts and wish I never bought them, with my build there just plain obnoxious.[:@]I will most likely go with a D&D fatcat with the quiet baffle for sound and performance.

i have the same bike, when i brought it in for the 1000 mile svc, i had the dealer install the stage1 airfilter
i also installed a set of V/Hbigshot slip on'swith the download.
the bike sounds great and i picked up allot of mid to top range power..i do allot of two up riding with the wife and bike doesn't lack any powerat all...
look around and listen to some other bikes before you make a choice..reinhartsare a greatbar hopping pipe but may be a little loud if you like to cruise...

Like all things, it's all what your after. I was embarrased to be seen with the stock muffs so went to se slip ons. that sounded nice. the old lady liked them too, so I had to ditch them. I now have V&H big shot duals and they are freaky loud when you get on em (3500-5000 rpm). otherwise they arent too bad. They dont even wake the neighbors during warm up an 330am.
V&H makes a quiet baffel that not only quietd em down but should add some low end as well. deffinately reccomend air cleaner and pcIII. bite the bullet pay out now. so you can do more later.
If you are going for performance... 2-1.
