I am wanting to put some Michelins on my 2010 Street glide. I had the Road Pilot 2 on my Vmax and liked them alot. Anyone have any suggestions for Michelins for the touring bikes?
Dunlop 130/80 R18 63H is the stock front and Dunlop 180/65 R16 81H is the stock rear. not sure what the 63H and 81H is for though? Any and all Tire suggestions welcome. Im looking for something decent in rain, in corners, and decent wear. Obviously so is everyone else. Just curious as to what people are running.
Im having a problem finding the 18" front tire for the Commander II. I was looking at them before . Superstore is out of stock forthe 18 inch front and no other place seems to have em.
The Commander II's are Michelin's answer to the Dunlops dual compound tires for high mileage. I ran ComII's on my Dyna and really liked them. The Com II's come in proper sizes for your bagger now. The load ratings are as follows: 81H 1019 lbs and H for 130 MPH. The 63 is for 600 lbs and 130 MPH. When my current tires run out I'll be getting a set of these.
Been running the Dunlop E III's for last few years and have a set of the MC II's in the garage waiting to go on the bike. Was quite happy with the E III's but waiting to see how the MC's compare. The E III's handled all conditions great and hope for the same out of the MC's but with more longevity. Best rear wear I got with the Dunlops was 10,500. BTW, my Road King is an 01 so pretty sure we have the same tire size. May have bought them from Jake Wilson, not sure.
I wanted to try the Michelins, but they didn't have the 18" front I needed, so put the EIII or American Elite (one on front and one on rear - don't recall which went where) and have been very happy with them.
I'll still give the Michelins a try if they have the size when I'm ready later this spring....
I just ordered commander II's for the king. Getting them put on Friday. Cant wait to see how they do. My foundation of riding was made on a 06 gsxr 750. I ran Michelin pilot power and power races on the bike and i never had the slightest problem out of them. I know this is a diff. World but im going with my insticts from the past use of michelins!!
+1 on the Comm II's...I have about 6k on them and they still look new. Use to run the Metzlers, which I liked but these so far are real nice. And they were about the same price as the others...
My last set of tires were Michelin commanders. I liked them a lot but they offer a narrower look (rear) than other tires of the same size. For that reason only I switched to Metzler 880's. Other than a singing front tire I also like the way the Metzlers ride.
Both brands are (IMO) better than Dunlops.
