Does anyone know what a dealer charges to install MCRs or ACRs? I have a sticky situation with my heads. They have already been ported by S&S and I wish I had the new ACR head or stepped up to a SE head of some sort.
Damn, I didn't think that was possible but I guess the hole into the combustion space is pretty small. I like having another possible option!
What the guy at the dealer told me is they drill really slow with grease on the bit to catch the metal flakes, if anything goes in it usually is blown out when you crank the bike up.....Above my skil grade...It was done for free on my bike to try to figure out my starter grind.

Really, They did this at the dealer. You would still need to tap the hole for the mcr. I would really question this process. ndfrspd
Right but there are metal shavings from drilling & tapping that could find its way into the motor causing issues later on.
I have seen seen spark plug holes redone with the head on..first they put a greasy rag in the spark plug hole, turn the engine until the cyclinder was almost to the top, put grease on the tap which catches most of the chips, then they use a small diameter piece of hose on a shop vac in the hole to pull out the chips you can see, next pull out the rag.and then turn the engine to open the valves and then blow the cylinder out with a air chuck with a skinny piece of brake line attached to it...the machinist says he does it all the time with no issues..
You could also make an air QD adapter to thread into the spark plug hole, hook up the air hose and drill away, soon as you break through the air will blow any chips out, nothing will ever drop in the cylinder, you can tap it that way too.
