Default Battery removed - security system dead?

I can't recall where I read it, but I did read where disconnecting the battery on a bagger with the onboard security system will somehow prevent the bike from starting after the battery is reinstalled.

The LAST thing I want when I finally roll her out of storage is for her to not start - I just wanna go for a l o n g ride!!

Can someone chime in with real truth here. Is this true? If so, what can I do to correct it after I reinstall the battery?

Is there a sequence I should follow to reinstalling the battery?

Help please......

No, I've had my battery disconnected and when reconnected she fired right up. Never heard it could be an issue.

You will be fine... I take the battery out of my '11 SG (with security) and then put it back in when it turns nice out. Have not had a problem.

Just wondering- does the system store the PIN or does it need to be reentered ( after a months long period with no power).

Here are the instructions I received:
- turn ignition ON
- remove the 40 Amp maxi fuse
- then disconnect the battery if you need to do so.

The alarm system is not activated so not affected.
It worked well for me when I installed the battery tender connections.

- leave ignition ON
- reconnect the battery
- reconnect the fuse
- switch OFF ignition

You're done.

There is a battery in the FOB that last about 2 years.

That's how I did mine - just unscrewed the terminal screws.

Same here. Didn't have to mess with the pin. Put the battery back in and security light started flashing again.

When I picked my bike up at the dealer it didn't have a pin stored and the fobs weren't activated to the bike and the light wouldn't flash at all so that leads me to believe that once one is set it is somehow retained.
