My motor is just over 10:1, I have them and use them all the time. With mine I had to get a bigger starter cause the stock one just couldn't hold up.

The bike in question is an 04. Putting a 95" kit in it. Already has 204 cams, which i plan on leaving in it.

Then I'd drop them in while your heads are being worked. When I had my manuals done (while heads were being ported and polished) the cost was minimal (about $100)

ONE comp release is just fine.

and yes, at 10.1 and up, it puts strain on the starter. so for $40 (for one), its cheap insurance

The 204s have a pretty early intake close @ 34 so it's probably a good idea. That being said I had a similar build, 95 CI, flat top pistons, & stock P&P heads & didn't have a problem, but it was on a 2000 FI bike with the 3.37 primary gearing which makes things a little easier on the starter. That's the reason the 07-up have more starter problems, primary gear ratios: 07-up 1.35, 94-06 1.44, & 99-01 FI 1.54, the higher the # the more torque multiplication, the easier on the starter. Bottom line, it's cheap insurance.
