Apes
Hello all,
I am looking for a little bit of advice. I have a 2001 Electraglide with factory bars on her. I am 6 feet tall and find with long distance rides my shoulders get sore and fatigued. I am thinking about putting a set of taller bars on the bike. I am wondering how do I decide how high I want to go and what I should look for in a set of larger bars for the bike. I also want to straighten out the angle at which my wrists are at while riding. I am thinking maybe 4 inches above stock. Basically at the top of the fairing. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Chris

I've got a 2000 EG Standard with a carb and I just did a Khromewerks 12" fat apes install. My goal was to have my hands above my elbows but below my shoulders. I'm also 6ft tall with a 34/35 reach.
I posted about the bars here:

I am 6'2" and I ride a 07 Streetglide. I recently had a set of 16" cyclesmiths apes that I had HCC (hillcountrycustoms) package up for me. I would say go 14" at least since you are 6'. Good luck!

6' / 33" inseam with 14" apes and they are about perfect (hands above elbows but below shoulders). Very comfortable!
The downside is that your hands are above the fairing by maybe 1-2". Something to consider if you do a lot of cold weather riding. I have heated grips -- so no problems.

1 sit on the bike and put your hand where they would be comfortable and have someone measure the height and pullback from stock.
Im 5-6 and have a set of 13" la chopper prime apes pushed all the way forward and that brings my hands just at/under the top of the fairing.
