take the money you would spend on the ESP and put it into a savings account. then ride your bike.

The parts must not be off road only parts, they must be EPA legal for the ESP.

The Extended Warranty Program from Harley is a third party program, meaning Harley outsources it. Contact the company and see what they can do for you. The worse that can happen is they will say no.

ESP coverage is over-rated, IMHO. If you do due diligence and have your bike serviced per Harley's recommendations (but not necessarily per Harley's timeline), and you don't have any issues over the 24-month standard warranty period, then it's not likely that you'll ever have an issue.

The way I look at it, it's better to keep the $$$ in YOUR pocket. Even if you DO have a major repair, you'll still probably come out of it for less than what you would have paid for the ESP.

My $.02.

It really all depends on the mileage you put on your bike. A garage queen that gets ridden only in the fairest of conditions wont benefit much from it. A touring bike used for its actual purpose will more than likely utilize the warranty. My ESP has already paid for itself. Stator (x2), Compensator, Starter and shift shaft leaks.

I would definitely disagree with FenderGuy53 because the further out of the 2 years you go, the MORE likely something is going to happen.

Also, remember that even a day lapse after that 2 year warranty is up and you cannot go back and get the warranty. I gambled and chose to buy the 5 year and like I said that decision has already paid off. I still have over 4 years left.

I bought the seven year, which actually means five extended years. I taught my dealer a couple of lessons about the extended warranty when we were "dealing," and bought it for around $1000. I won a bet about coverage when buying it and got him to throw in the tire warranty. The guys I ride with ride often and fast. It's good to know if something breaks, I'll only be paying $50.

I'm on the fence, but I have to make up my mind in about 2 weeks.
After two riding seasons, I have a shade over 11K...It's certainly not road warrior mileage, but not Garage queen either. I really don't see my yearly mileage tick up much, especially while I am still working.

If I had to make a decision today, I would pass on the EW....These warranties wouldn't be offered if it didn't end up making the underwriter money..just something to think about.

Yes the under writer makes money, prolly lots, but it's averaged over many people paying. Ask yourself this? Will I be the lucky one or not?? Then make your decision.

You can buy the CNA warranty from any dealer and its good everywhere. Call Jim Palmer with Kutter Harley Davidson. He will be your best price and it includes tire and wheel coverage.

For me, the ESP was well worth the money and I intend to keep it on this bike and may get it on the next bike, whenever that is.

Best of luck.
My ESP has more than paid for itself so far with the above work accomplished.

Even after the flywheel replacement, I still felt some vibration in the bike especially at highway speeds. I could feel it in the floorboards. The Service Manager rode the bike last week and agreed. I dropped off the bike yesterday. Today they showed me the front engine mount. The mount which as installed about 1000 miles ago had cracks in the rubber at two different areas. The mount hole between the engine mount and the bracket itself did not line-up. (Basically, I was told it was improperly installed). Along with the engine mount, there was a slight oil leak from the Stator seal. The regulator showed signs of what I guess is overheating. There are a couple of cracks on the back of the regulator. Also, the speaker problem I thought I had was actually the radio.

So, ESP will be paying for a new Stator, Regulator and Radio. The motor mount would be covered, if I took it back to the shop that replaced it. That for me was not an option right now.

Again, ESP has come through for me. I don't have a total cost of this visit but I'm sure it won't be cheap.
