The 01 has a speedo sensor in the top of the tranny ( the neutral switch is also mounted in the top of the tranny- it is bigger)- often the sensor gets clogged with steel filings from the gears wearing and removing & cleaning with a rag is all that's needed.
It is held in place with a single screw- usually an allen head
if you are sure the sensor is good, check wiring and the speedo itself.
