Oil Filter Drain Trays
For 99-09 Twin Cam FLHT, FLHR, FLTR and 99-05 FXD
Tired of hot oil running down your
oil filter and all over your bike and floor?
Once the filter has been loosened, these unique
drain trays fit underneath the oil filter and against the filter mount to
direct the oil into your catch pan not all over your bike or the floor
I've used that one, and I have both styles. they don't work as good as you'd think. they don't get all the way under the filter, they are too close to the filter body and the filter itself actually stops the oil flow. I was unhappy with the performance of them. sometimes still use it to try to help stop a mess, but in my opinion, I wasted my money

If you have rags ready and wipe down the bike immediately after you pull the filter, the mess is easy to clean up. It's when you wait until the oil change is finished and you allow the oil to "grease up" that's its a PITA...
Going from an 07 FLSTF to my RKC, it was a whole new issue changing the oil....
I have one of the HD plastic oil drain catcher items that has a small hose on it. It works okay, but not 100%. Simple green works good as a clean up spray.
I made a long sharp punch and with a light tap punch holes in the end of the oil filter to let it drain before I remove it. That doesn't get all the oil out, but it makes a lot less mess and with rags handy cleans up pretty quick.

this is what i do also, and seems to work the best.
I picked up a form-a-funnel (I think that's what they call it) at NAPA. It is a sheet of lead encased in rubber so I can form it to whatever shape I need. Works great.
Also works good to redirect the oil when I remove the filter from my truck.
