agreed, the position makes it a bit harder to find a fix. where there's a will, there's a way though lol.

Ok if I read this right you are looking to hide the threaded mounting point on the tourpack where the antennae connects, Correct? If so what I did was found some little rubber caps and slipped them over the studs for both the radio and CB antena. It hides them nicely and they can still be used if I change my mind. You can get the caps at Lowe's/Home Depot if you're interested.

It sounds to me that your solution is to cover the threaded stud after unscrewing the antenna. We are talking about actually removing the entire antenna mount which leaves 2 holes in the Tour Pak and in the case of an Ultra, 4 holes.

Here is what I have been thinking of doing to cover mine. See if I can type this out so it sounds right:

Take the mount off the bike make a teplet, and have a stainless steel plate made to fit it. Use rubber gasket material to seal the plate and the Tour Pack, then drill a hole though the plate, use a stainless steel bolt to go thru it, and a peice of flat stock steel to go across the hole on the inside of the pack, and fasten the bolt to the flat stock.

Yes, No ????

Let me know what you guys think of this?

Bob

Sounds like it should work out. I just pretty much want to cover the threaded antenna receptacle yet, retain it if I want to use it down the road so covering it with a rubber "tit" seems like a viable option.

ORIGINAL: a.boogeyman

Just received my new Tour Pak for my Road Glide. It's got the antenna mounting base on it. I'd like to find a way to cover the actual mounting point where the antenna connects (screws in) on the rear of the tour pak since I'll be using an antenna inside the fairing. Anyone have any pointers on what to use?
My TP didn't have an antenna hole, but did have six holes for the passenger backrest, which I'm not using. I bought some 9/32" panel fasteners on Ebay and painted them with touch-up paint (HD). They look decent enough and are mostly covered by the seat backrest. I'll try to take a photo tomorrow and post it. If the antenna hole is on the rear in plain view, the panel fastener idea may not be a good one. If it isn't too big, perhaps you could cover it with an emblem of some sort. I toyed with the idea of using the holes in the front to mount some small leather pouches, but decided against it because the backrest might conflict with the pouches and their contents.

BUMP of an old post. Hydraboss and I are facing this problem now. Any ideas that have worked other than filling the holes at a body shop?

..try "fix it now" section of Advance Auto parts..they have shiney black plastic plugs, used one on a hole in fender on softail where rear of seat mounted. Looked pretty good, not sure of diameter of holeson tourpak, but worth a look.

Short of body filler/paint, the next best easyalternative are plastic plugs (available at Lowe's/Home Depot, etc) and HD touch-up paint.

I'd like to see someone (not me 'cause my TP has the Ultra light bar color matched to the TP) take an Ultra light bar and cut-off the tailight/brake light pods, trim them to their minimum installed size, then cut the TP to install. The exterior plastic"flange" (made as small as possible--just enough to provide purchase for the pod and expoxied to the TP) could be painted to color match the TP; chrome surrounds from HD could be added to the lights for the chromosexuals/chromoholics.
