Why don't you go to the hardware store and buy a cheap black rubber nipple that fits tight. Get it wet with soap and slide in on. Take a hair dryer to it to make it dry and snug in place. It is going to be the cheapest and least noticeable way to get rid of it.

I was thinking of finding, making a stainless steel small flag pole (like a 3x5" flag) that screwed into the post. Any thoughts?

I used chrome caps and a dab of silicone. i picked them up at the small hardware store in town...

Why not just pop a really short dummy antenna on the darned thing? That's what I do.

OK, I can top all of these. Go to your auto parts store, and get some car door lock pulls. The kind we all used to have. I got some 2 inch chrome ones, and screwed them on. They look slick, and were only a few bucks. You can kind of see them in this picture. And yes, that rag is due to a leaky primary.
