Default My new Street Glide!!

So, I just picked this baby up yesterday! 2012 Street Glide in Ember Red Sun-Glo I got one HELL of a deal and it's EXACTLY what I wanted. I just got rid of my 09' Deluxe, I will miss the Deluxe, but I have another Softail and I wanted something comfy for the long hauls. Looking for some advice from everyone here in the touring section.

Here are the main things I want to do, I'm going for comfort as main priority.... I'm a little over 6'3" so that's where the comfort priority comes into play

1. The seat - it's super comfy, but I'm used to sitting a little lower. Shoule I keep this stock and just get a back rest and foot pegs to stretch out?
2. Back rest. Suggestions? Not looking for anything super fancy.. just lower back support to "recline" against.
3. Windshield. Due to my height, I don't feel I get the full benifit of the stock windshield. Any recommendations? I was looking at Long Ride Shields... I don't want anything real high, I just don't want that "thumping" feeling against my head. Any testimonials there?

Eventually I'm going to do an Air cleaner, probably a fuel pak, and maybe some RSD wheels (LOVE the "slam" in contrast cut). Right now its all about comfort though.

Thanks!

Congrats!!!!

As far as sitting lower not gonna happen to the degree of your Deluxe without doing a drop seat kit. You may want to consider a C&C Seat which still sits low but has more of a defined bucket that gives the feeling of sitting in and not on.

Backrest may not be needed if you do the above.

The stock shield is pretty much useless. Your height will help determine what height shield to go with. You want the top of the shield to make a vertical line to your upper lip. The Long Ride Shields recurve allows you to run a shorter shield with the wind deflection benefits of a shield 2-4" taller.

You also might want to look into the Fuel Moto Micro EFI Tuner over the Fuel Pak. Does pretty much the same thing but much more customizable to your particular set-up. And it can be dyno tuned too.

SICK bike! Id go with the backrest and stretch on out...that looks real nice. The windshield is your preference but i think it will make the front end look not so clean and slick as it does now. Good luck and nice @$$ bike

1. Get yourself a solo with built in backrest. Companies that do well Mustang, C & C, etc. They make seats that sit you back further if you need.

2.See above

3. Try a LRS Ultra recurve. Shorter shield but acts taller then they are.

Nice bike, you're going to love it. The stock wind deflector looks cool, but I put a Klock Werks 8.5" Flare on mine, really cuts down on the buffeting but I can still look over the top.

Congrats on your new ride.
I just recently got my 2012.
LRS or Klock Werks shield are good.
Get a nice solo with back rest.
Let the Mods began..........

Congrats on your scoot! I'm thinking about a C&C seat to drop me in the bike but I wanna install my 14" monkey bars first and go from there.

Beautiful bike. I have the same one. You will love it. I put an 8" Tinted Clearview Recurve on it and look right over the top and it blows the air up higher. I just put mini apes and painted inner and hope to love it. I put a backrest on and the docking hardware for a luggage rack on trips. I also put a set of superflow mufflers on to make the sound a little deeper. They are a money pit just to forwarn you.
