Default Early vs Late Heritage Softail handlebars

Are the any differences between the part number 56569-86 handlebars and the part number 56569-09 handlebars in the wist angle. I had a set of Heritage Style handlebars and was not comfortable with the wrist angle. I have beach bars now , but don't like the wheel barrel effect.

Thanks,

Ed

Thanks,

I have had 5 FLSTC over the years; '02,'06,'08,'09 and a '12.
The '02,'06 and '08 had an awful bend in my RH wrist area for me because of a crash I had on the '02 in '02. When I got back on the bike after healing from the crash, I had this pain in my right wrist from it (wrist)being reconstructed. Every new bike I got I had to endure this discomfort because I did not want to change bars. I even tried an '08 RK and
it didn't help.
When I got the '09 and now the '12, I am pain free. The bars look the same, ie bend, pullback and overall fit. I like these bars.
I would go to a dealer and sit on as many new Heritages as I could and see if the bars fit you. You would not think Harley would change the angle of the wrist area, but you never know.

p/s: I thought about taking a pipe and bending the handgrip end of the bar on all of the
bikes until I had a bend that didn't hurt my wrist, but I never did, just toughed it out.

I'd try asking again on the forum for softail model riders.

I believe the 86 bar is more like the Heritage style bars.

The two bars are very different. The '09/later bars are far more comfortable and better looking to boot. And yes you can mount the later bend on the earlier bikes without changing cables - just re-rout.

Thanks everyone for the replies, I want to replace the Beach Bars on my 06 RKC. I had Heritage Style Bars but the they were uncomfortable and I had to rotate them back almost hitting the gas tank to fit my short arms. I'm only 5'4" with the bike lowered in the rear and the seat lowered also. I sat on a couple late model Heritage Softail's and was comfortable with the bars. Just wondering about fitment with my short arms. These will be bars number 5.

good luck - be aware the bars will be lower on a touring frame because of the seat postion on a softail.

The facts from the book tell us the real numbers, not feelings or guesses.Interestingly the numbers are sequential in the book. 56569-09 tip to tip 32.50 pull back 7.00 rise 10.00 base width 11.5 knurl 3.14 56569-86 31.25 5.00 12.00 11.5 3.14 Interesting to me is the stock Police Road King has the early Heritage bars and I do not like the wrist angle but my old RK I put the later bars on and found them quite comfortable. The Road King/Road Glide Heritage style bars are exactly the same as the early Heritage.

Have a set of 56569-09's on order from Surdyke. My local dealer (Sunrise Harley) wouldn't price match them.
