Synthetics are your best protection to avoiding shear IMO. Riding conditions really determine how often. A cold environment and/or dust/dirt riding conditions would make changin more often a good idea. For me it's every 5K.

I use Redline in all three holes and K&N oil filters at 2500-3000 mile intervals. I usually use a scavenger every 10,000 miles, which usually means once a season. I am sure it's overkill but I am fine with it . . .

10k for primary, 20k for tranny.
We have a BINGO!

I use Walmart brand 20/50 dino oil in the engine (5K miles) and primary (10K miles). HD filter, and Redline Shock in transmission (20K miles). I have about 22K miles presently on my CVO and it runs like a Swiss watch.

I'm not cheap but am not loose with my money either. If you feel better spending more cash on your ride then needed, more power to you.

BTW I ride year round down here in South Florida.

Cheap insurance, IMHO.
