After trying to decide if I should do the install myself or pay the $1000-1200 for the dealer to do it I decided I would give it a shot and very glad I did. I had one issue with the whole install which I will get to in a sec. I took the bike apart on Friday evening, taking things apart are easy so it did not take me long to get it torn down. I started to pull the wires Friday night and got the clutch side through reasonably quickly. When I moved over to the throttle side I was able to get the TBW through and the other group of wires but not both at the same time. I know many have been able to do it but I just cant see how. That damn green plug was the death of me. I finally called it a night and started fresh Sat morning. Still the same issues with the throttle side. After being frustrated right out of the gate I figured I would run over to the dealer and look for some help/advise. They said they would run the wires for me for 2 hours labor which I know seems ridiculous but I was so frustrated I let them do it. I got the call a few hours later and went and picked up the bars all neatly wired for me for $180. When I got them home I extended the wires, pretty easy with the Namz kit I ordered. I started putting everything back together and got the bars mounted up and checked to make sure all the controls worked which they did. I then tackled the clutch cable next. Pretty easy install, just takes time to get the exhaust out of the way and put the new cable on. I never adjusted my clutch before but it was easy and straight forward. Then the brake lines, another fairly easy job other than the little pin on the triple tree that would not come out so I just ground it off. Bleeding the brakes was pretty simple, non abs. Took my time with the whole install and like others have been saying the wiring is the biggest PITA. None of it was hard, just the frustration with the wiring. All I need now is some warmer weather so I can give her a bath and go for a ride with the new bars. Sorry for the long winded post, feel free to ask any questions you may have. I am not a mechanic, just a regular guy with ok mechanical skills. Here are a few pics, before, during, and after.

After reading some helpful tips I decided the green connector had to go, so I clipped it and soldered the wires. It was still a pain in the *** but for me, removing that connector made the difference in getting it done and getting fed up and having my indy do it.

My guess is that my dealer took the green plug out like you did. When I picked up the bars I asked what the secret was and of course they did not tell me anything. I felt a little defeated when I paid them to do it but I still saved almost, if not, a grand doing it myself.
They probably did. I took out the green connector, ran the tbw harness by itself first (leaving it hanging out maybe 6"), then ran the switch harness in after it, at the very end of pulling the switch harness I started pulling the tbw also to take up whatever slack was still left. I could not get them to go simultaneously, or switch first and tbw second, not even close. Oh yea, and used baby powder, lots of baby powder. Damn garage looked like lindsay lohan's dressing room when i was done..
You will love the bars...................but next time try using paragraphs, its hard for us old coots to read, when its all one long thing. lol

The green plug has nothing magical about it, it can be cut out and wires spliced without any issue. Its just another HD myth
Removing the exhaust like the manual states is just a waste of time. Ive replaced my the clutch cable with only removing the heat shields. Long Ball allen is your friend.

I read that before about the long ball allen but did not have a set of them handy. I am sure that would have shaved 30 minutes or so off the install but not a big deal.
