Default What year Cats start

What year were that Cat first on the Ultra's? I thought is was 2011 models but not sure.

Have a friend with a 2010 Ultra Limited and we were wondering if it has a catelytic conveter on it.

2010 was the first year with them in the header from what I understand.

The owners manual for my 2006 Ultra says they all have cats. Doesn't say where though.

You understand correctly. Not sure about different years with cats in mufflers.. But 2010 was definitely the first year of cat in the header.

There are no cats in any HD set of headers. Simply not enough room. They are in a collector tube after the header tubes terminate just like in cages. Read the manuals. That is HD's term for them -Collector tube.-

First cat collector's other than Calif. was in the 10 touring. 10 Dyna's and Softails non Cali were in the mufflers and still are except for the Switch Back which has the collector tube.

If you see a heat shield on a muffler it is there because of the cat. The exception is the touring CVO's that have a heat shield on the muffler so one cannot see the ugly color the chrome turns to with the heat from the cat.

Cats seem to run away often. The muffler ones are the easiest to loose.
