Welcome to forum. I'd put 1000 miles on bike before deciding on stage 1. If you're happy with stock pipes & performance then then really no reason for stage 1. If u decide for a little more pep replacing stock air cleaner & pipes & tuner is best bang for buck. Highly recommend Fuelmoto pakage if u decide to go stage 1.
I went from a 600cc crotchrocket to a '09 FLHT that's been modded by the previous owner... The previous owner did most things but I am now looking at a Tour Pack or a 107 as the next upgrade... Ride it and customize it for comfort/reliability and go from their.
From: South Carolina-First to secede and hopefully the next.
Kinda depends on you, really. The Stage 1 upgrade can get pricey if done later out of pocket. Exhaust, AC, and ECM flash (or PC) and you're at 1000 to 1500 bucks quick.
Doing it at the time of purchase lets you add it to the cost of the bike and adds it to the new bike warranty.
I say go for it. Your bike will run better, cooler, and have more power. And if you're like a lot of us you'll do it eventually. May as well do it from the start.
I say get a set of Screaming Eagle slip ons for a bit louder sound, i love mine...If you decide to do anything to a fuel system i would skip the stage I and go straight to a Power Commander V. that way if you ever decide to do more upgrades Fuel Moto will get you a new map... You will get the sickness..
Ask bikers for an opinion and you get them.....My first one was on 09....did the slip on monster ovals and stage one with K & N breather kit....The increased noise did bother the wife and I on 8 hr days...had to wear ear plugs...
Traded it in got an 11....The only thing I did was get the catyletic converter removed....Guys are removing the pipes...cutting them..removing the converter and welding it back...all you see is a ring around the pipe but its hid behind the cover...
Freed the bike up alot and made it run much cooler....
Cost like $200....best $ I ever spent....(except that one night...LOL)
