Was having a problem with the wifes Triglide battery running down quick when having the switch on but not running. I did make me a jump cable using the pig tails that would go from the charger pig tails on the bike. ......haven't tried it yet.. the only problem will be when you try to jump it like that, there is a possibility that you will blow the fuse in the pig tail on the bike. i removed the fuses in mine to eliminate this.....just make sure that the bike that you are jumping from; keep the switch off while jumping. i also carry the pig tail that comes with my trickle charge which has a pig tail on one end and 2 clamps on the other. that way if i don't have another bike around, i can still use a car with jumper cables....
Those little wires can't carry much current; if it doesn't turn over instantly, shut it off quick, the small wires can heat up real quick; you don't want to see them glow red. Might work if the battery is just a little low, but not if it's drained real low. I don't care for that live switch feature, would like to wire it so that it doesn't work. Had to pull a battery out to recharge it just a couple weeks after getting the bike when I pulled the key out in the live position, decided those pigtails still in the box for my maintenance charger weren't a bad idea...
I just read about this in the latest HOG magazine, well jumping a bike anyway. They strongly suggested not using a cage to do so. It ain't that hard to take off your seat and use a charger. Like said, that tender cable is pretty small gauge wire.
for a jump start...go straight to the lug on the starter. Just pull the rubber boot back, be careful not to touch the positive jumper cable to your bike, and find a nice ground on the bike for the negative cable. Works like a charm.
Switch on, put it in second gear, hold the clutch, then push it at running speed. Jump into the seat and pop the clutch.
Takes a big sumgun to do that! [unless your on a big hill.]
Jump it straight to the battery lugs,if with car, don't have the car running. If it doesn't start quick, don't keep cranking.
