Cool. I pick one up this weekend. It's the most plausible explanation as now that I'm thinking about it, the same thing happened with my Train a few years back.

Thanks guys.

Enter the code manually and try to start the bike. If it starts then it's the FOB.

I keep an extra battery in my saddlebag. I haven't had to use it yet but i don't want to get stranded someday.

Manual way is: turn on ignition with run switch in on position. Press both turn signal switches at the same time. Use the left button to make the number higher and the right button to advance to next number after last number hit right button and then hit the start button and it should start. If the code has never been changed it should be set to 00000 from factory- I think don't have manual in front of me right now.

Every one of these threads makes me glad I don't have the security system. The last entry makes me wonder how one enters a "0". I have also wondered if there was a standard factory code, can't believe there is. If so, anyone familiar with the system could walk down a line of bikes and enter it, and take the one that started for a ride. Some security!

I would assume that everyone that buys a bike with a security code will personalize the code. The system allows one to toggle through the numbers, this is how the numbers are chosen. I would think that the harley security system is about as good as any.

Because I have the security system, I can pull up to a bar and go in without fumbling with the key. If someone steals it while I'm in having a beer, I can just catch up to him pushing the bike and whip his *** when I get finished with my beer.

How would you catch up to him? Does your bike shut down?

always carry the wallet card thats in the back of the owners manuel it even has a place to write your code, imagine that.as for preset think its done at the dealership at setup, who knows what your dealer used to initiate it,some use the first or last vin# other use zip code, really no telling.
