Default 01 flhtci rebuild

Bought this bike off insurance company after a laydown wreck.
I am putting in the 1550 kit plus HDMOCO stage 1 cams.
stripped frame of black powder coat and painted blue.
Welded 2 inch extensions in to move trunk back. After frame was painted aftermarket came up with the extensions..oh well.
raked neck from 28 degrees (approx) to 34.
I have about 20 pics of the process, will post a few here at a time.
first shots of it wrecked
Will be thumbnails, just click the thumbnail for a bigger pic.

Does this frame have the heavier replacement swingarm? If not, now would be a good time to get rid of the crack-prone lighter version. A few members have experienced swingarm cracks on the '00 & '01 bikes.

Looks like a fun project, keep us updated.

The swing arm is original from factory. Never heard of the cracking until now(thanks). Will have to look into that.
I'm not putting the fairing back on so you should see (in later pics) the mess of wiring I need to deal with.
Thought I had it basically straightened out, till I put tank on tonight.
Going to build a console mount for the gauges and place most on tank plus the switches.
Will have to redo some of the wires, and switches might have to be relocated.
Bought all digital gauges. still have to wire them in.
Maybe have them done this weekend, but probably not.

well as I said in beginning, this was a laydown wreck.
Had it to two different dealers to confirm frame was straight (bare frame). They confirmed it was. One day up on the bench the frame suddenly rocked! Said WHOAAAA!
Didn't obviously see the problem. Called HDMOCO to get a copy of the specs. Take my own measurements.
MOCO said the specs are not released to anybody any more. Said well I'll get form dealer, they said dealer does not have them. Standard procedure is replace frame after any wreck.
I explained how did I then get 2 invoices from 2 dealers confirming it is straight. HD said dealer is not supposed to do that because of liability. Got the statement in writing went back to dealers and got a refund.
Problem turned out to be the side to side frame brace at bottom rear of frame was welded off center at factory. When I looked a little closer it was obvious.
Anyway a few more pics.
Couple of the frame after sand blasted and where I welded in the 2 inch extensions to move trunk back.
Next pictures will be of the engine and tranny.
