HI All
Newby here in the forum. I have an 06 FLHT Classic that has a MT90-16 rear tire. I've been looking at the Michelin Commander II's and wanted to know how big I can go on the back? Some website sites when looking for tires after entering the year/model of the bike say 130/90-16 and other say 140/90-16? (I think the MT90-16 is the same as the 130/90-16 but I am not %100 sure.)
Can anyone tell me what's the largest tire I can put on with out having to modify anything?
If you have the 1 1/2" wide belt, you may find the widest you can get in is an MU, which is 140/85. The 140/90 is an alternative, made by some tyre brands, which is slightly larger in diameter. You may just be able to squeeze in a 150/80, which is the widest that will fit your rim, however the belt guard is likely to be your limiting factor. An MT is indeed the same as a 130/90. The MT, MU and 150/80 are all very close in diameter, so if you have the space are interchangeable.
