I just finished installing my progressive monotubes with a 1" drop on my 2010 RG. I followed the directions exactly, larger spring, three collets, and I only dropped the bike a half an inch.
Before I did the install I spoke with Progressive. They said they recommend only using the one inch spring, which would actually drop the bike about an inch and a half.
Just finished the same job. I swapped out my stock height Monotubes for the lowering kit. I did the 1" drop spring with 2 C clips and it dropped the front end 1-1/4" total. I did one side at a time and actually measured the difference. I only used 2 C clips based on reading some of the threads on here. Seemed like to consciences was that 3 C clips made the ride to firm.

After talking to Progressive, I did that. Love it!

I don't think the c clips would keep the bike from dropping any. I'm going to give progressive a call tomorrow and try to get an explanation (and some advice). I just don't want to do this damn thing again!!!!!
I had these installed recently. Piece of cake, but it cost me some dough. Well worth it for me. Love the result. Front end down 1" to match the SG shocks I installed out back.
I like wrenching, but know my limits. Something as important as front suspension I'm leaving to the pro's.
Just curious if you got the bottoming cups in correctly. I'm not sure if the 6mm bolt is long enough to reach the Monotubes if the cups are upside down. And have to ask if you " stroked" the fork outer tubes when you added the 5 ounces of fluid. Just trying to throw some things out there that may be of some help.

Thanks Q. I never separated the forks so I didn't mess with the cups. In fact, I followed the instructions which said once you remove all of the guts from the slider, keep the tube down on the cups to prevent them from moving. I did that and when I added the 5 oz of oil I did stroke the tubes to flow the oil into the sliders.
I'm going to put some miles on the bike first and see if the suspension will sag a little. If not, I may tackle this later on and just pull the c clips and install the smaller spring for the 2" drop.
I just received my monotubes and have a question. When you guys say you installed the 1" drop spring are you referring to the spring the instructions call for or the spring that is about an inch long? Wanna lower an inch to inch to inch and a quarter and don't wanna go it twice lol

For the 1" drop the instructions call for the longer spring and three c clips. I did that and only dropped about a half an inch. I may eventually pull the c clips and add the second spring.
Some guys only installed two c clips with their one inch drop and got about a 1-1/4" drop.
