What Would You Do
But if the repaint is not an option an I was choosing between the the 06SE and the stock 09. I would vote for the 09 because of the 6 speed tranny and larger tank.

It would all be a bolt on, you could sell your tins to offset the cost. And it looks like he's down to 2500 plus shipping.
ETA: It looks like you're both in KY, so shipping may not be an issue.
I suggest that you talk to yor wife about redoing her kitchen, the master bathroom or other high priority female imperative. She rides on the back, spends little time looking at the bike, and is not one of most gals's priorities.

Personally, I can't see much difference between the old frame & the new one. I understand why HD did it, as the Glides are carrying more & more weight on them as we Americans continue to drink our 48oz. sodas and super-sized fries. I've ridden both old & new framed bikes, and the difference was nominal, at best.
I'd prefer the 103 to the 96 any day! The 6-speed would be nice to have also, but I do just fine with a 5. The extra gallon of fuel is only going to get you 50 miles further down the road. When I'm riding, I'm never in that much of a hurry, so an extra stop to stretch my legs is welcomed.
Quality & finish on any CVO is just excellent! I know that I beat the drum for them all the time, but to me it really is a much nicer quality of bike. There are so many little things they do, that it would be extremely expensive to do it all on your own.
I had considered a new (or newer used) RK, but then found my '03 SE with 900 miles, and I chose the older bike. I don't regret it at all.
BUT, the best advice is what I said first... keep her smiling and enjoying your hobby! That is truly priceless!

Yes, if you liked that color, it wouldn't be a bad deal! You'd just have to have your tourpack painted to match.
You couldn't have a bike painted like that for $2500 (or less, as he mentioned you'd be selling your old tins)
