Your tire psi should increase 10% when hot. If it increases more than 10% its too low, less than 10% its over inflated. Yes, there are a lot of variables from weight, ambient temp, altitude etc... This is just a good basic rule that has always worked well for me

Right on. This is the easiest way if you aren't a factory rider with data logs and pressure monitoring systems.
According to Goodyear, it changes 1-2 degrees F for every 10 degree change in temperature. I would say on a motorcycle it is about 1 lb/ every 10 degrees.
All right now a question about hot tire pressure. I've got my cold pressure set at 36/40 with a calibrated gauge and my on board Fobo tpms. When I was riding this last weekend, 50 deg in morning, it was ok. Then as the day warmed to 75 rear tire temp was running 90ish and 49 psi. There are summer days when we are 80-95 ambient temp and who knows how hot the tires will get. What is too much pressure or when should I be concerned?

I always say, and this is a perfect example, that if you add a gauge you will add a neurosis.

I agree with this, i run 40/40 cold and if checked warm typically 44 or 45.
