I just had itdone on my o6 sg and it was 4 hrs labor. also needed oil and gaskets. the total installed was $603.35. I wish i would have tried it my self. I love the look though.
I had my chrome inner primary done when I had the HD 6-speed tranny installed and my dealership (Montgomery County Harley-Davidson in Valley Forge, PA) did not charge me to install the chrome inner primary. They had to take off the original one to do this anyhow. I am not sure if other dealerships would do this as well but mine did. They are awesome.
I tend to think about my add-ons and try to get simular part exchanges like this so I keep my labor costs down.
I just waited until my shift shaft seal started to leak then when I brought my bike in for the warranty repair I just brought along my nice shinny new inter primary and said when you put it back together us this. ( I love getting this stuff done for free)
I did it myself last weekend and it took a few hours. It was not hard at all. The only special tool you will need is a primary lockup tool and they are not that expensive. It looks a little difficult by reading the manual but when you jump in and take it step by step it moves along just fine.
Hi there AtkRWC. Did you happen to take any pics of the process when you installed your inner primary? I would really like to save some money and install the one I just ordered. I have a 07 FXDC; thanks for any info!
