Default My Ultra's garage floor. What would you do?

Just bought a new house and the garage floor needs help. Those of you that have done this, paint or tile. The floor has surface cracks so I am leaning towards some kind of tile covering but have no idea what to look for. Thanks for your help in advance.

This has been asked on 6speedonline as well.

The consensus is a quality paint finish is the best, but tile can work well too.

I prefer the total coverage of sealant myself. If not done properly, hot tires will lift it off the cement.

If the floor is oil stained you have to do quite a bit of prep if you are going to coat it or the coating will peel. I used tiles in my last garage and they worked very well. The only problem was it was slippery when wet so I put floor mats in stragic areas.
I used solvent to clean the oil stained areas and glued the tiles rather than just use the self stick feature. the nice thing about tiles is you can replace damaged ones pretty easily.
Another option is tiles made specifically for garages but they are pretty pricey.
My neighbor just uses floor wax. He put it on the floor when new and now all he does is touch up the wear areas once in awhile. He scattered some very fine sand on it while wet to help with the slippery areas.

I might try paint first. I know I can fill the cracks and hope they don't get bigger.

Had this in my old house and it was great. Used in for 9 years before I moved and still looked great when I sold the house.

I have textured epoxy paint on my shop's floor.. It is great if you are on top of things and clean up after yourself. If you let your brother do work in your shop and he spills oil which then sits there for a couple of weeks before you see it.. Well... It's amazing what synthetic oil can do to epoxy....

I'd go tile.

I will be putting tile over the floor in my shop, gonna cost me a fortune.

Already revoked my brother's keys...

Being that I live in the cold north I installed interlocking vinyl tiles for garage floors that I purchased from Sears. They are the same as race tech, but at a lower price. These are also easier on the feet and legs than hard concert. They are about 3/8" thick and are 12"x12".

I like the idea of the tiles, IF I can afford to do it. Epoxy paint would be ok for me. I live alone and NOBODY comes in my garage to work. Maybe I should go to Lowes and get a sample, do the 4X10 part that my tool box is in.
