Post Key Fob Enlightenment

Hey Guys, a little info and reminder about Key Fob Batteries:
The HD Key Fob, and most other Vehicle Remote Fobs, use the very common CR2032 Lithium 3V battery. This same battery is also used in Heart Monitor Straps (The sending unit) among other things. I just ordered and recieved a 5 pack of them from Amazon for 3 bucks with free shipping. They also have a 20 pack for 7 bucks. Long shelf life, mine say use by 2021. I saw a guy pay 7 bucks for one, installed at the dealer recently, so I decided to start looking around.
When I correctly placed the battery in the fob, I took a black fine tip sharpie and put 3/13 on the battery for month and year of replacement in each of my devices. My plan is to change them out every odd year. Oh, and for safety, always keep these batteries out of the reach of small children as they may swallow them and if unseen - the pain they experience may not be properly diagnosed and dealt with for some time.
Just a reminder, and save a few coins!

I replace the batteries in both fobs on Jan 1st every year.

The batteries cost much less than the aggravation of a dead fob.

This is also a good idea.

I keep two fresh batteries in my tool kit just in case....On one occasion I helped out a fellow rider with a new battery when his fob went dead out on a ride.

I just rotate them out, the two from the tool kit get put in the fobs on Jan 1st, and the two in the tool kit get replaced by fresher new batteries.

Mine in the past have lasted more than two years,
but it's an easy reminder to change them out every year when you have to update your licenses plate tag.

I also keep a spare in the saddle bag.

If you get rid of the security system you done need any stinkin' batteries or a fob.
