Question Shinko Tires

Has anyone tried these Tires? they are very inexpensive and I'm on SSI so they seem to be in my price range...I've read some reviews and almost all were positive...and of course I'd love ME880's instead but I can buy 2 sets of Shinko for less...

It's been my experience that cheap tires are just that, cheap tires. I do understand your $$$ situation, but I suggest getting the Metz or something along those lines. Also, check the date on the tires also, and old tire does you no good either.

I wouldn't put them on my sled. I would look into an inexpensive but good tire like the elite III. You get them pretty cheap at Jake Wilson's

I Second the suggestion you get a good handling high milage tire like the Dunlop E3 .
They will last "Way Longer" than Stinkos .
This means $$$ savings in the long run .
They will also handle better =Safer ride ....e3 sticks to the road good dosn't follow the grooves or tar snakes .
I am CHEAP eeeerr i mean THRIFTY !
Also i second checking with Jake Wilson for a great price.
I paid $110 for front e3 and $128 for rear e3 free shipping.
I am CHEAP eeeerr i mean THRIFTY !
I tried a stinko years ago and it didn't last 2000 miles .
For about the same money a Contental way better tire would last twice as long as the Stinko around 4000 to 6000 .
or for $20 $30 more an e3 will last 15,000 to 25,000 miles . see way cheaper in the long run.

I'm thinking of trying Shinkos on my Dyna. But on my Road Glide? No. I would go with Dunlop E3's. Great mileage, excellent handing, good price. I don't think they're that much more then Shinkos. I don't have experience with Michelin Commanders, they have good reviews on the forum.

Use Search in the blue bar above to find other threads about Shinko. Personally I only use premium tyres on my bikes. If money is a problem ride less for a while.

I'll only run Metzlers or Commander II's. Never heard great things about shinko, and tires just arent a place go cheap on.

Hell, commanders are on sale right now at JP i think like $120 for the front, $180 for the 180mm rear (I think like $140 for the 130mm rear). Pretty good price for a top quality tire IMO. Glad theyre still on sale, Im replacing one I bought 2 weeks ago thanks to my ego requiring my to accept a challenge during bike week

The only shinko ill ever use is for a burnout, they make one that smokes orange for harleys called a "smokebomb".... Ill have one on my extra rim during biketoberfest in daytona, watch for the 1990 in the Iron Horse burnout pit

since nobody above has run them, ill tell you that I have one on the rear right now. Very sticky tire, great for the track and as a stop-gap as you get funds together

stupid_rope, have you run them previously? If so what kind of mileage did you get out of them? I ask because the thing thats steered me away is concerns of mileage, which dont really effect a track bike or a cheap tire to keep you on the road for a couple months, but might be a problem if youre planning on using it for touring on a 800lb bike. When I used to ride my rice rocket guys would run them as track tires or as an "in-between" set as you mentioned.

yeah bud they're definitely not high mileage tires but they're my emergency go-to, especially in the summer when im at the track. mileage is 4-8000, depending on how hard I ride it.

and yes its the bagger that's going down the 1/8 mile
