How much would you pay for new handlebars?

I had an Indy shop do 16" Wild 1's on my Road King. New brake lines, cables, whatever, $1100 parts and labor. I didn't think that was too bad considering the amount of work involved and having to deal with the TBW and all.
But $1900 sounds high even for a dealer. I'd shop around some Indy shops for a better price.

Labor - $930.00
Plus tax, brings it up to $1885.20
I didn't ask for 10 and 11. So I could probably take off $100 right there. But still...

I was in the local Harley-Davidson establishment and asked the gentlemen at the counter how much to install some new and taller bars.
He came back with a paper that had $1900 worth of stuff and labor.
I left.
So, here in the real world, what did this sort of project cost you?
And at what height do I need to get new clutch cables, brake lines, wires, etc...
I have a 2012 FLHX and I'm looking at 10" or 12" bars.

Wow I saved that much! I dont think it came to a grand when I did it and I went the full monte with stiffer bushings and brake splitter. But I spliced the wiring myself and went with a set of Santee bars which if I told you I went with Wild1's you'd never know I didn't.

You want to do it right the first time! The only way to cut the cost is to DIY.... Get the right height and the right length cables and get someone else to do the internal wiring if you think you can't manage that part. But when it is done you will have a grin you won't be able to wipe off.

Just put wo577 on my street glide with +6 magnum shielding cables and a se tbw 420.00 , DIY is priceless this form offers lots of help

I paid a little over $1200 for a set of 12" PYO MBB's, chrome controls, chrome levers, stainless braided brake and clutch cables, poly bushings, and had them pre-wired before being sent to me. Expensive? You betcha. Not having to deal with feeding wires through those bars? Priceless. Spent an afternoon and evening with my 23 year old son (who was here visiting from Chicago) installing them. For me it was worth it. Quality time with the bike and my boy, and he got to learn a bit about my ride, instead of listening to me gripe about how that damn wire won't go through..
