I had an Indy shop do 16" Wild 1's on my Road King. New brake lines, cables, whatever, $1100 parts and labor. I didn't think that was too bad considering the amount of work involved and having to deal with the TBW and all.

But $1900 sounds high even for a dealer. I'd shop around some Indy shops for a better price.

silent1, Here is the breakdown:
  1. Handlebar - $189.95
  2. Poly risers - $39.95
  3. Brake fluid - $7.95
  4. Trans gasket - $7.85
  5. Gasket service kit - $7.53
  6. Syn3 oil - $11.95
  7. Clutch cable - $78.95
  8. Sensor kit - $99.95
  9. Wire ext kit - $51.95
  10. Clutch cable clamp - $44.95
  11. Chrome banjo bolt kit - $44.95
  12. Mid brake line - $80.95
  13. Lower brake line - $164.95
  14. Upper brake line - $57.95
  15. Shop supplies - $12.00
Parts total - $889.78
Labor - $930.00

Plus tax, brings it up to $1885.20

I didn't ask for 10 and 11. So I could probably take off $100 right there. But still...

I'll be doing this job myself.

Dew Me, I'm down near Fredericksburg. I'll let you know if I have any questions. Thanks.

So, here in the real world, what did this sort of project cost you?
And at what height do I need to get new clutch cables, brake lines, wires, etc...

I have a 2012 FLHX and I'm looking at 10" or 12" bars.
Usually labor is about $400 (bike without fairing) at an HD shop to have bars internally wired and installed. The bars and new braided cables and wire extensions cost me about $500, total cost $900. That was in NC about 3 years ago. $1900 is ridiculous, what were they charging you for?

I paid 250.00 to put bars on my RK. It's good that the wife's best friends husband is a great Harley mechanic and gets a good deal on anything from the dealership.

Wow I saved that much! I dont think it came to a grand when I did it and I went the full monte with stiffer bushings and brake splitter. But I spliced the wiring myself and went with a set of Santee bars which if I told you I went with Wild1's you'd never know I didn't.

WO 518 internally wire with braided cables, trans oil and gasket was just around $500 for parts...I did the work myself.

You want to do it right the first time! The only way to cut the cost is to DIY.... Get the right height and the right length cables and get someone else to do the internal wiring if you think you can't manage that part. But when it is done you will have a grin you won't be able to wipe off.

1. Bars $375.00
2. Cables and others about $500.00 which includes PM Grips and chrome levers
3. About $875.00

I paid a little over $1200 for a set of 12" PYO MBB's, chrome controls, chrome levers, stainless braided brake and clutch cables, poly bushings, and had them pre-wired before being sent to me. Expensive? You betcha. Not having to deal with feeding wires through those bars? Priceless. Spent an afternoon and evening with my 23 year old son (who was here visiting from Chicago) installing them. For me it was worth it. Quality time with the bike and my boy, and he got to learn a bit about my ride, instead of listening to me gripe about how that damn wire won't go through..
