Default How much would you pay for new handlebars?

I was in the local Harley-Davidson establishment and asked the gentlemen at the counter how much to install some new and taller bars.

He came back with a paper that had $1900 worth of stuff and labor.

I left.

So, here in the real world, what did this sort of project cost you?
And at what height do I need to get new clutch cables, brake lines, wires, etc...

I have a 2012 FLHX and I'm looking at 10" or 12" bars.

I bought my bars through Hill country customs. Super nice guys and the kit cam with everything you need and the correct length cables. I have a 99 road king and a 06 ultra classic and did the work myself. Took about 8 hrs or so I think. Just go slow and you can do it if your mechanically inclined at all. Oh and I paid around $500 for the whole kit and that was 1.25 inch bars. And stainless lines.

Its a project that can be done with hand tools and a soldering iron. You don't need a lot of experience. Just need a service manual, and the willingness to spend a few hours with your bike. Good bars run 350 to 400 or so, plus cables and brake lines. Shouldnt be more than 500 to 750; depending on how much your cables cost.

I have to take some better pics of the bars but you can get the idea. I'm 5'10 and don't have very long arms they are the perfect height for me and you can beat them for the money I have invested in it.

Str33tgl1de, That's exactly what I'm looking for. So you didn't have to extend anything? I'm not afraid of wiring or doing the work, I would just like to get my hands up a little higher without having to sell a kidney...

I had 10" Yaffe MB's installed by my local dealer recently. Bars were $375, labor was $425. Only had to change out the clutch cable.
