I have noticed that my 2001 EGC oil pressure at cruise sits de?ad on 32 psi. I was out for a ride last weekend and noticed it never got above 22 psi. Does oil pressure fluctuate like that normal?
Low on oil? Next I would look at the oil pressure switch if it is still original. Oil bypass valve could be stuck open but somewhat a longshot. After that check the oil pump, lots there to go wrong. Cruising it should be 32-34.
Pressure should be steady and constant at speed. If not, time to do some checking. My pressure stay at 32 psi at speed (I think, will have to check when weather permits) and around 8psi hot idle.
Pressure will decrease slowly over time with normal engine wear, Sudden drop. Inspect and troubleshoot. Do you know your baseline pressure??
It usually runs at 32 psi. Yes, had cam tensioners changed when installed cam some time back. Maybe a fluke. I'll see what happens this weekend. Thanks
