first let me say. I love this site. thanks for all the great threads.
now to the issue. just traded my 06 wide glide on a 13 ultra classic. love that thing. I have the dealer install the 12v in my tour pack so I wouldn't screw anything up not knowing the bike that will. boy did I get taken. think the thing was only 35 bucks. but the charged me $78 to install it. thought there was alot involved. WRONG. its PNP right in the tour pack. I noticed it when I was adding my tour pack relocator and had to remove the liner. all you have to do is remove the two bolts that hold the radio speaker in place and attach the unit. run the wire to the other side and plug it on. reinstall the liner. How long would that take you?? I just got my survey in the mail and haven't filled it out yet. gonna take a little trip back there first for a little chat. take a look at the pic see the 12v on the right and the plug on the left with the other wires. simple PNP
Please stop the bashing. I've gotten the point.

Reason: To stop the bashing
Should of spent the money on a manual.... you would of been able to see just what was needed for such a simple item. It happen to me once, after that I look at the manual then decide if its for me or not.
minimum charge of labor... 1 hour. rate per hour.... $78.
you didn't get ripped off. you paid for an install which isn't pro-rated. live and learn. take on these installs yourself. nothing wrong with learning a thing or two, even if it's a new bike

I look at it this way. If you asked to have the job done and agreed on the price and paid the dealer and job was completed, the deal is done. I would treat it as a learning experience and ask questions before the next time. A lot of people on this forum are a wealth of information also so it never hurts to post a question about how to install things.
You would think after a customer spends $25,000 on a new bike, then buys the accessory with a simple install, the dealer could find a way to make it happen. It shouldn't alway be about how much money the dealer can get out of your pocket, a happy customer will return and tell others.
