Anyone have the S&S 510c cams in their bagger?...UPDATE in Post #19
***After mod update in post #19***
Been looking to add some cams to my 11 RGU and like the dyno of the S&S 510c cams. Mods I already have are the SE Stage 1 intake, Vance & Hines Power Dual head pipes mated to Rinehart 4" muffs and a HD Stage 1 upgrade.
If you have the S&S 510c's, please give me your opinions.
Thanks in advance.

I had the SS 510g in my 05 EGC and loved them. Great tq and hp with these cams. The volume level on the exhaust goes up quite a bit. I went from a 88" to a 98" and 67hp to 100 hp and 70lb tq to 112lb tq. These cams work best as in all cams I guess with some head work also.
Put the 510s in my 99 RK and only able to ride a few times cause of the snow around here. But a huge improvement from the stock ones. Can't wait to ride it for more than 5 miles.
I had them installed on my 99 flht when we did the big bore kit. Initially there was a little whine to them but that has settled down. My wife and I do a lot of traveling and the cams have made a noticeable difference in our riding with the added torque. I'm happy with them and would recommend them.
I have the 510G cams in my 99 Ultra Classic. The 510 I would classify more of a highway cam since it kicks in at 2600 rpms. More aimed when you are cruising down a road and may need the kick in that range.
There is a 509 cam that is for more all around preformance. It kicks in at a lower rpm range.
When doing cams you have to ask first what kind of riding I do and where is it at. Then you can look into a cam that fits that mold. Some are great for tire burning tourqe and others are aimed for a better kick at passing.
Talk to a good shop about the cams. Mine recommended the 510s since 90% of what I do is highway.
103 I would recommend the 551 over the 510. 510 if you have the 96.
Right from S&S:
510: Designed as a bolt-in cam for 88, 95, and 96 CID engines with compression ratios below 9.7:1, it is primarily intended for use with stock, un-ported heads. 3000-5500 rpm.
551: Designed for engines with 96 to 106 CID and 9:1 to 9:9 compression this is a bolt-in cam set designed for stock or mildly modified touring bikes. 551 cams are not recommended for compression ratios of 10:1 or greater. Greatly improves low-end and midrange torque, strongest from idle-4000rpm

I would agree with S&S's statement except about the 510 in a 103. Mine pulls like a raped ape, if I had the 551 I would hate to run out of pulling power at 4k. My dyno sheet shows it keeps pulling up to redline and beyond.
Mine- hvy breather, 551, V&H 2-1-2, she holds 100 torque 2600 - 4750 on original dyno sheet. I have tweaked it some and going to redyno later this month.
But the 510 does look to be an interesting cam now that I look at the specs.
