About 10 years ago, the whole fam went for a ride. It was a Canadian HOG rolling rally called the Can Am ride. Mom and Dan on their Ultra and us (me, the wife and boy) on our FXRT/RLE sidecar outfit.
We did over 3000 miles total and had a ball on every one.
About a month ago, they, mom and dad took their last ride together, at 85, they took a 200 mile ride on their 2010 Ultra. The old man decided it was too much for mom now and traded the Ultra for a new Chevy pickup.
Mom passed two weeks later, riding right up to the end, wow.

Sorry to hear about your Mom,but an AWESOME story! Cool family.
I love riding with my father, one of the reasons I left the sportbike scene and migrated over to HD's was so I could go on longer rides. He was too busy last summer as well as not feeling as "confident" on the bike anymore (he's 69). Hopefully I will get out this summer for some rides.
Pops and I have ridden for thirty years together. Now that he is retiring, the folks bought a rock star RV and are selling their Harley off. I'm glad that I have videos of us riding together. I won't ever forget the times. But now that he's in his 70's safety becomes paramount.
Family riding is cool but I found that the last few years I spent more time worrying is he going to make that corner or make that trip and not have an accident which took some of the joy out of the ride. Pops ride is for sale
Back in the 50's, Dad had a HD Police Special, he loved to ride, but it was long gone before I arrived. In the early 80's he got back into riding, but on a Goldwing Interstate. When I turned 16, I bought a 750 Magna, not long after we finally got a chance to go riding. It was fun, at one point we were doing 80k and he looked at me, grinned, cranked it and took off! When I caught up to him at the next light, he laughed and said " What took ya so long? Don't tell your Mother!". Sadly his health declined after that, and his bike sat collecting dust. We lost him a few years later, but at least I have the memory of that one ride we had, and that big grin.
I never had the chance to ride with my own Dad, but my father in law has always treated me like a son since he only had daughters. Rode with him for a couple of years a while back and then I got out of bikes. Realized neither of us were getting any younger so I picked up an EG last year. My son also got his license late last year and we all did a little riding in the fall.
My son turned 18 and will graduate HS soon. My in laws asked if they could get him a bike as a combined gift. They got him a Kawasaki ZR7S. A nice little sport touring bike. Looking forward to many miles of riding together this summer.
Lost my dad last November. Never got to ride with him after he got busted up pretty bad on a bike he never really enjoyed it after that. Get to ride with my brother now and then really enjoy that. Glad to hear you guys are getting to do that. Cherish that kind of stuff all you can man. If guys think it's corny they can all pound sand. Can't put a price tag on family.
