no but i hear that motor running hot & noisey 6th or 5th gears are common
I wouldn't say 'common', but a few people have complained about some issues on here. The 5th gear issues was mainly a whine due to the gear being a straight cut gear. I can't say anything about the running hot issue because mine had true duals and a Stage 1 right out of the box.
A word to the wise, being your first Harley and all, if you had metrics before this you will have some vibrations and hear different noises than you are accustomed too, however you should know if you are having a real problem or if it is just a Harley thing.
Ramn, the '07's are known to run a little hot because they are tuned lean to meet EPA requirements. This isn't a problem unless you add aftermarket pipes, mufflers, or air filters - when you do so, you'll want an aftermarket fuel management system (PCIII, FuelPak, SERT, etc) to provide more fuel into the air/fuel mix.
It's also true that the 5th gear in the new 6-speed transmission makes some mechanical noise. This is due to it being a straight-cut gear, and is a normal sound for this transmission. Many of us have noticed a decrease in the noise as a few miles are put onto the bike and after changing to the Syn3 oil at the first scheduled maintenance.
As Custom07RKC points out, Harley's tend to have more "animation" and "sound" than the typical metric - that's one reason they are so much fun. After five Gold Wings, it took me a while to get used to the "features" of my Road King.
