I have had the LED headlight for a bit and now just got the Harley spots. My buddy has an HID and I litterly wash his lights totally out with all three of mine on. I feel even my headlight is brighter. If you want to same money on LED lights, go with the Trucklite Phase 7 headlight and spots. I've seen all 3 lights under $400

I have used xenonrider for the past five years with never an issue on my FLH's. I just order these for the Roadie; http://www.xenonrider.com/products/h...hid_kits.shtml

There's no comparison to the factory halogens but I cannot compare to the LED's being I have never ridden a bike with them.

HID's use less energy, last longer, take a lot more abuse and perform much better than halogens.

I have used the xenon system in several of my offroad bikes for years as well and they have never left me without lights, ever. Plus they're USA made.

HID bulbs are not made, nor intended, to be used in most stock reflector housings. It's dangerous and creates hot spots, light scatter, and glare for oncoming traffic. They should only be ran in a projector housing or one that is designed to be used with high intensity discharge bulbs.

Since the stock Harley headlight isn't designed for them, and I wanted more light, I used LED.

My HIDs work fine, got them from DDM tuning and they came with everything I needed. There's a little more effort involved in installing them than the plug and play of the LED kits, but they were easy enough to figure out and wire up. The extra 30-60 minutes were worth it over the $500 premium of LEDs in my opinion. RG LED kit = 550, RG HID kit = $70; no brainer imo. Lots of people use them and haven't had any issues. I didn't let the naysaying discourage me and saved a bunch of cash, and the lights work great, so I'm happy.

If you install HIDs, make sure you re-calibrate your light's tilt after the install. A lot of times, the light housing won't be set up correctly after you install the HID and it'll be throwing light everywhere, often much higher than the legal cut-off. Follow the guide in the service manual for properly adjusting this and you're set.

As far as the ballast, I velcro'd them in the fairing. Not sure if they would fit in the bezel, but some are pretty small and slim, so maybe.

HID's in two bikes. Nice and bright. Inexpensive. Single beam 35W with the high beam function turning the light off. These are so bright that there is no need for a high beam. I ride to work in the dark every day and it is nice to be able to see and be seen. I got the ebay specials and ran them off a relay that I installed. It is a simple install.

You folks may want to try the Hella e-code head lamp. I did and with the stock Harley 60/55 bulb it's plenty bright. At $40 it's much cheaper than the other options. I'm not a fan of LEDs and can see road hazzards better with the warmer beam of the incandescent bulbs. That pale beam of the LEDs don't show up colors of hazzards like Deer and Coyotes as well as the incandescents. They just seem to be the same color as everything else.

Gents, please notice the shield on the bulb. It prevents light from scattering off the bottom of the reflector...no blinding other drivers.

BTW, my kit has lasted 15k miles.
