As has been stated, the Street Glide is an Electra Glide.

If you mean what's the difference between a Street Glide and an Electra Glide Standard/Classic/Ultra Classic, etc...

The Street Glide adds... ummm.... that cool rear fascia with the tri-bar light in it. I think that's it.

The Street Glide substitutes... white face gauges vs. black; 12 inch rear shocks vs. 13; slimmer seat vs. Road Sofa; Street Glide specific wheels vs. various; 4" dark windshield vs. 12" clear; passenger pegs vs. passenger foot boards; Streamliner foot controls/pegs/boards vs. plain black rubber; plain front fender vs. emblems/trim; bullet turn signals vs. pancake; fairing mounted mirrors vs. handlebar mounted; Street Glide-specific tank badges and console vs. various.

The Street Glide deletes saddle bag crash bars; Tour-Pak and rear speakers; fender rails/bumpers/lights; fairing lowers; CB/intercom; front fender skirt; passing lamps.

I think that about covers it.

I pondered buying a SG but went with the EGC...tour pack sold me...the ride height was another factor...i am 6'1" so the EGC wasn't too high...The white gauges are really nice but i am not looking at them all the time...I added the CB/Communication kit, Cruise control. Next will be Lowers. Hell eventually it will be a Ultra...lol

OK, I sorry for spouting off, but wouldn't a ride to the dealership give the new guy more info then we could give him? He asked a gereral question that could have recieved a ton of answers....going to the dealer and putting his eyes on the two bikes should have provided him with a visual difference...tour pac, no tour pac, diffferent guages, seat difference, height difference, floorboards, rear passenger pegs vs floorboards, lowers and CB radio on Ultra...etc.

His question just didn't make sense to me, to general....but I'll shut up....

Hi Jett,

I bought a 2008 Electra Glide FLHTP almost a year ago today. The funny thing is, I was on my way to go look at a black 2009 Street Glide that I had my heart set on. I walked into the dealer, saw the SG, then noticed a blue and silver EG sitting right in front of it. It turns out the EG was an FLHTP or Police Bike (Not a commemorative edition). I fell in love with it because it had more trim and just looked better to me. It was nice to have both bikes there to compare. As a police bike, it didn't come with a Tour Pak and looked like a SG with trim.

Again, I'm new to the HD life and there are a lot of folks in this forum that know a heck of a lot more than me. Here's what I can tell you. The EG has a lot more trim than an SG. It has front and rear fender accent lights, passing lamps, chrome saddlebag guards, a taller windshield and all those other details mentioned by others who have so far replied to your post. I have since added a King Tour Pak since my wife rides with me a lot more than I thought she would. My thought is, if your looking for a touring bike with a Tour Pak, you should consider the EG Ultra Classic. If your looking for something with less flair, go with the SG. You'll probably have to change the seat out on the SG if you buy a Tour Pack since the seat on an SG really isn't designed for two-up riding. Momma will probably want a road sofa seat.

Think of it this way, you have the Ford Crown Victoria (SG) or the Mercury Grand Marquise (EG) both the same car but one has more bells and whistles.

One other thing, because my EG was the FLHTP model, it came with a 103 as opposed to a 96, front and rear ABS, no stereo or speakers. I had to install 2" risers under the Tour Pak because the FLHTP come with hockey puck lids and opens differently than an SG, EG or EGUC.

Personally I think the street glides definitely need more lighting on the back, most I know end up adding lights, other than that they are nice riding sharp looking bikes, better suited to one up riding in my opinion.
