I use a headset on my 2012 Ultra all the time to listen to music. My wife listens to her own music through a set of ear buds. We're going to spend 10 days on the bike in June and it would be nice to use the UC's intercom.
My question concerns how the volume controls work. If I'm listening to MP3's and she's listening to her own player, I have the forward volume control adjusted for me, and the rear muted so my music doesn't interfere with hers. With the rear muted, can she still hear the intercom when I talk to her? Are the volume controls the same across any device that you use (radio, CB, Intercom, Aux), or does each device have it's own volume adjustment?
When the rear is muted I would think that that goes for everything going through that channel. I have never tried it on mine but I would think that what you want is not possible. Unless you get your own player too.
I thought it was but didn't want to spend the cash for her headset if she wouldn't use it. This will work well. She can use her ear buds for her music, but should be able to hear the intercom over the music.
