It looks like I should just hit the starter button as soon as I turn the **** to on, as recommended in the replies.
Thanks to all for the insight......
I leave my run/kill switch in the off position, how I shut it down. after turning on the key, main power, I flip the run/kill switch on and immediately hit the starter button. Very quick, injectors never have a chance to pressurise.

I also run 5.8 injectors that will flood the motor very quickly if it doesn't start on the 1st try.

Just as others have said. Check for a poer commander if you bought bike used. Do not wait for it to cycle if in fact there is a power commander

I have never had a power commander, but my bike starts much better when I hit the starter as soon as I turn the ignition on.

I believe the start up fuel vaporizes in a hot motor if you wait until the light goes out. It's like too much starting fluid in a diesel motor at once. Playing with the start up fuel will help and if you try long enough, you'll get it right.

It's much easier just to start up without waiting for the light to go out.

Starting about 6 weeks ago, it started to take 2 or 3 tries before it would fire, when I used the method reccomended by the factory (turn **** to on.....wait until engine and security lights go out and fuel pump pressurizes(sp), then hit starter button).

However, if I hit the starter button immediately after turning the **** to on, It fires right up. I think there might be a leaking injector. Is that possible?

Thanks for any and all replies.........

I have read in the past that the Power Commander will power itself off after a few seconds of non use.
So if you wait to long the Power Commander shuts down and your bike runs on the factory setting of the factory ECM.

I do not know this for sure, but I did read it on the internet.

Hmmmm I have had hard starting ever since I have had the bike, well at least after the first week when I had the PCIII installed. I have always waited for the lights to go out, and then hit the starter. I guess I will start starting immediately without waiting on the lights. Hope it improves the starting process.

not quite. when you first hit the run switch, the power commander goes through a self test sequence. if you wait too long, the way hd has set up the electronics now, the power to the pc is cut off. then when you hit the start button, the power is restored, but the pc has to go through it's self test sequence again before your bike will start.

I have a Thundermax TBW and always wait until the engine light goes out. Never had a problem with it starting, always starts right up.
