What do you mean by it started to take 2 or 3 tries before it would fire? If you are hitting the start and crank a few seconds and then think it needs a rest and letting up that will cause what you describe. A V-twin requires starter switch held in and crank till it hits and is starting. Unlike a car 4,6 or 8 cylinder that has enough firing to keep it going, a v-twin takes just a fraction more time to start even after hitting. Ever time you let up the injectors fire and two or three false start makes it so rich it will not hit. Hold it in, wont hurt it to crank 10-30 seconds. If it does not start in 30 seconds, you have something wrong.

OK, tried this today for the first time. I turned off the kill switch, then turned on the ignition and took it out of gear, pulled the clutch, turned the kill switch to on, and immediately hit the starter without waiting for the lights to go out, and the bike started on the first turnover. That is the first time that has happened since I installed the PCIII. Very Nice!!!!! Thanks Forum!!!

Yep this is the way... run switch off... turn ignition on... get some clutch... flip run switch on and hit start without any delay and it will start up!

if I start mine without leaving the fuel light go out it throughs a code , and it has allways turned over a few times before it starts , wifes Heritage starts about as fast as you think about hitting the start button
My Dad had a Sportster that would start so fast that you couldn't even hear the starter engage. Since I installed the PCIII if I let the light go out, I often get hard starts, or sometimes it backfires through the intake and smells like gas. Without letting the light go off this morning, it started on the first crank. It has never done that before.
